Leadership Manhattan Beach is a program that develops leadership skills and community knowledge in those individuals who are poised to make contributions to the quality of life in the community.
Many Leadership Manhattan Beach graduates have assumed special roles as elected representatives in city government and in key appointed positions on city commissions. Leadership Manhattan Beach is enhanced by the presence of both adults and high school students in its program. Each year, the class is charged with making a contribution to the city, ranging from a millennial time capsule to a commemorative cookbook that raised money for both the Leadership program and the Wellness Community.
The Leadership Class of 2008 provided the Manhattan Beach community with life saving tools that will empower individuals to take care of themselves and others in case of an emergency. They are the "Envelope of Life" along with an information sheet on how to prepare a 72-Hour Preparedness kit; links to a downloadable PDF version of the "Envelope of Life" on the Manhattan Beach Fire Department website, accessed through the city's website, www.citymb.info and the class website, www.mblifesaver.com; and 72-Hour emergency kits that were distributed to Manhattan Beach seniors.
